Deronda is situated half way up an extremely steep, narrow road and, unless walking, we do NOT recommend that you approach the house from St John's Hill. The best approach for Deronda and its car park is shown above by the green direction arrows. Dropping down into Barmouth following Church Street you will turn left onto Jubilee Road which is a one way system. At the end of the road, a T junction, turn right and then left into King Edward's Street. Follow this road out of Barmouth town. Please note that Gellfechan Road is a very small, narrow road off King Edward's Street on the right hand side (there is a B&B on the corner with a maroon coloured canopy over the door) and therefore we would suggest that you take your time. Once you are on Gellfechan Road, follow the road until the hill peaks. As you drive over the peak of the hill the car park is located immediately to your left with the house immediately below.
However, if you arriving by train, the quickest route from Barmouth town is to come straight of the train station and walk up to High Street. Opposite the garden centre you will see St John's Hill. Follow St John's Hill road up to the church and then turn left onto Gellfechan Road and Deronda is just around the corner. The house can be seen from the train station if you look straight ahead and to the left of St John's Church.
